14-Stage Water Filter Testing and Installation Guide for Filter Replacement

We hope you’ve been enjoying your Radiant Life 14-Stage Water Purification System and the delicious, clean water it creates. We recommend conducting water filter testing on your system periodically to ensure optimal system performance and to keep your water as pure as possible. Because filter and purifier lifespan varies depending on the quality of your incoming water, filter testing is the best way to determine when components must be replaced. Below is a guide for testing your system and selecting the proper components to keep it running efficiently.

Step 1: Test Your System

To test your 14-Stage System you will need a TDS Meter. This tool was included with your system at purchase. If you have misplaced or need to replace your TDS Meter for another reason, you can purchase another one here.

Total dissolved solids (TDS) is the measurement of the organic and inorganic materials present in a liquid. In water, TDS is mostly comprised of natural minerals such as calcium, magnesium, and potassium, but can contain other materials.

TDS is NOT an indication of water quality. However, TDS readings are important markers of filter and purifier performance. The TDS readings you collect will determine which components of your system need to be replaced. Follow the steps in the TDS water filter testing video below to obtain a set of readings for each test location.

Please record five readings from the three test points noted below.

1. Tank Test Valve
2. Membrane Test Valve
3. Kitchen Faucet

Step 2: Analyze Your Results

Once the TDS testing has been completed take the five readings from each test valve and remove the highest and lowest readings from each set. This will leave you three readings from each test each location. Add the remaining three readings together and divide by three to obtain the average for each test location. Enter the average reading into the appropriate boxes below.

Deionization (DI) Purifier & Filter Performance Test

The result is

% DI purifier efficiency.

This calculator measures the effectiveness of the DI purifiers. If below 50% filters need to be replaced. Purchase the DI Purifier & Filter Replacement Kit (K082-004).

Reverse Osmosis (RO) Membrane Performance Test

The result is

% RO membrane efficiency.

This calculator measures the effectiveness of the RO membrane. If below 90% the membrane needs to be replaced. Purchase the RO Membrane Replacement Kit (K082-006).

Step 3: Replace Components

Once you've ordered and received the proper components, it's time to install them in your system.

To complete the installation, you will need a housing wrench, fitting tool and digital pressure gauge. These tools were included with your system at purchase. If you have misplaced or need to replace them for another reason, you can purchase a Maintenance Tool Set here.
