Vitamin K2 produced by bacterial fermentation as found in natto is known as MK-7. Jarrow MK-7 is made by Bacillus subtilus natto via fermentation.
Vitamin K2 assists in the functioning of many roles in our body including: protecting us from heart disease, forming strong bones, promoting brain function, supporting growth and development. One of the health benefits of vitamin K2 not often discussed is its role in ensuring healthy skin, as this vitamin may be beneficial for preventing wrinkling and premature aging. Vitamin K2 is important in the treatment of acne, keratosis pillaris, and other skin symptoms of vitamin A deficiency.
Food sources of vitamin K2 include butter and other high fat dairy products from grass-fed cows, egg yolks, liver, and natto.
Key Nutritional Benefits:
- K2 More Useful Than K1
- K2 has longer half-life (days vs. hours)
- K2 has higher activity (6X in vitro)
MK-7 (Menaquinone-7) is an enhanced bioactive form of vitamin K2 from Natto that is ten times better absorbed than K1 from spinach. MK-7 is responsible for the carboxylation of specific bone proteins needed for building bone.* Also, MK-7 promotes cardiovascular health by helping to maintain arterial elasticity.*

Frequently Asked Questions
Q. This seems like a great product but at $12/month for one person it seems more cost effective to buy pastured eggs for $3 a dozen. Even at 1 dozen eggs a week, it's the same price BUT you get all that protein and Vit A in the eggs also. Your thoughts?
A. We agree that pastured eggs are indeed an excellent and economical source of Vitamin K2 as well as a host of other nutrients. However, eggs provide solely the MK-4 (Menaquinone-4) form of Vitamin K2, not the MK-7 (menaquinone-7) form. MK-7 is sourced only from bacteria synthesized via the fermentation of natto, a Japanese condiment. MK-7 is responsible for the carboxylation of specific bone proteins needed for building bone. MK-7 also promotes cardiovascular health by helping to maintain arterial elasticity. So in order to benefit from both MK-4 and MK-7, it is optimal to have a diet rich in pasture raised dairy products PLUS MK-7 from either eating natto (difficult to acquire a taste for it!) or by taking a supplement sourced from natto, such as Jarrow Formulas MK7.
