Why we selected Antarctic Krill Oil
For three years, Radiant Life has been researching, testing and evaluating the benefits of krill oil versus fish oil. Though fish oil can be beneficial due to its omega-3 content, stacked up against a high quality krill oil, fish oil falls short in our opinion. Let's compare the following:
- Sustainability - Representing the largest biomass on the planet, there is no shortage or risk of endangering the krill population. It is a tightly regulated harvest overseen by the Convention on the Conservation of Antarctic Marine Living Resources (CCAMLR). This is clearly not the case with many species of fish that have been over caught now for many years.
- Purity - Krill are at the bottom of the food chain. Unlike fish, krill diet on phytoplankton in the pure, ice-cold waters of Antarctica, not on other fish. As a consequence, krill do not store heavy metals and other toxins within their bodies.
- Antioxidant potency - Contained within krill is a powerful antioxidant called astaxanthin that effectively attacks and neutralizes cell-damaging free radicals. This unique antioxidant is what gives krill its reddish color. Research has suggested that the antioxidants in krill oil are 48 times greater than the antioxidants found in fish oil.
- EPA/DHA (omega-3) - Omega-3's are abundant in both krill oil and fish oils.
- Phospholipids - Omega-3 in krill oil is mainly in the phospholipid form which research suggests is preferred to fish oil's Omega-3 in the triglyceride form. Phospholipid fatty acids represent key structural components of our cells and play a vital role in cell membrane functioning and thus the overall functioning of our cells, tissues and organs.

Why we selected Superba Krill Oil
Radiant Life Krill Oil contains 100% pure oil from Antarctic Krill Euphausia Superba rich in cell membrane building blocks. Unlike other krill oils, our oil does not contain fish oils or other non-krill additives. In addition, ours is an environmentally friendly krill oil produced via a new high tech method that:
- prevents krill decomposition and degrading
- prevents the death of non-krill species
- precludes the use of dangerous solvents and its polluting side effects
- utilizes less energy consumption by stopping the transporting of unprocessed frozen krill
- causes no solvent residues in final product
- ensures sustainable practices in the Antarctic Ocean
